Brief history of South&North Korea

Many people know that the Korean Peninsula is formed of two countries.

With the end of World War II in 1945, Korea was freed from Japan's occupation. However, the Korean Peninsula was divided into two as the U.S. and Soviet troops occupied the South and North, bordering the 38th parallel north latitude.

Since then, South Korea and North Korea have established temporary governments, respectively.

For a while, Korea celebrated the joy of liberation until North Korea crossed the 38th parallel in the early morning of June 25, 1950, and started a war with South Korea. They waged a war for three years and a month. Both countries signed an armistice formally ending the war in Korea

With the ceasefire of the war, South Korea received a liberal system under the influence of the United States, and North Korea received a communist system under the influence of the Soviet Union, and each society developed in its own form.

After the Korean War, North Korea made rapid progress, and in 1980, so they were prosperous enough to aid China. At that time, South Korea was poorer than North Korea due to the process of re-establishing a new city and a system that had been ravaged by the war.

However, since the 1990s, Korea has become the 13th largest country in GDP today with remarkable economic growth, which has had a great impact on the global economy.

On the other hand, in the 1990s, North Korea suffered from a sharp economic crisis, causing numerous starvation, and it is today's North Korean defectors who were unable to withstand hunger came to China and South Korea.

Of course, it is not easy to escape North Korea. It's the process of coming prepared for death. Even if you get caught while escaping and die, you sit still and come back determined not to die.

Currently, there are 33,000 North Korean defectors living in South Korea. There are various reasons for their defection from North Korea, but one thing in common is that they came because they wanted to live in a country where they could have a better society and freedom than North Korea. They didn't just gain freedom. They've been through a rough process of leaving their birthplace, leaving their brothers, and friends behind. In order to search for freedom they gave up a lot
